Aari was stimulated by Jael to keep on practicing her plant shaping skills, because he realized that her magic would be very useful in a forest like this one. He helped her to develop and adjust to their new surrounding and to no one it was a big surprise that the two of them recognized – twice even. She was devastated when he died, but accepted the Wolfrider way to mourn his death. Aari was the longest living firstcomer of the holt, and died during the High Tree Massacre.
Faellen was a petite but stubborn elfess who spent her time lingering in the past, “when everything was not wrong”, as she would like to call it. She was a beautiful lady and both Keir and Junko worshipped her. She was not easy to live with, though; she was easily offended and astonished when she recognized one of the first Wolfriders. She convinced Mireth to remove the wolf blood from her daughter Taellin, and left when the wolfrider chief forced her to make a choice.
After the gruesome attack of the humans the elves fled into the forest, and Faelith realized that they would not survive being on this planet if they would not adjust to it. Using her self-shaping abilities, she sought out the animal that could hunt and provide the remaining elves with food. She chose the wolf, but over time she felt less and less inclined to take her elfin form, preferring the wolf pack as her company. She mated with the wolves, which resulted some more wolfhearted and some more elfin like children. Her wolf-children would eventually be the ancestors to the current wolf pack; her elfin children would populate the tribe. She recognized Keir when she already was more wolf than elf. This resulted in the birth of the wolf like Wolfheart, who was destined to lead the tribe after Faelith chose to run off with the wolf pack, for good.
Jael was a very hard worker. After the crash of the palace, he worked hardest to be able to use magic again, and with great results. His levitating abilities developed so well, that he was able to lift himself. A free-spirited thinker, he knew Faelith was right when she instantly knew that adaptation was survival of their kin, but he felt lost when she left with the wolf pack. Jael was always willing to help others and always in for a good laugh. He died in a forest fire.
Junko was silent and shy, and very much shocked at first by what he had witnessed at the landing of the palace. He lost his soulmate to the humans, but recovered from her loss faster than he had expected he would. He had strong feelings for Faellen but she kept turning him down, and after a while he didn’t bother to try anymore. He had a pure-blooded child with Mireth, and several wolfier children which he loved the same. Junko chose to stay with the Wolfriders when most of his fellow Firstcomers decided to leave, and he died when he ran into a human hunting party.
The only one who never had been able to really get adjusted to their new habitat was Keir. He often joined Faellen in her reliving of the past, partly because he believed the same and partly because he wanted her. His recognition to Faelith was a big shock to him, as she already was more a wolf than an elf and he was shocked again when he realized that Faelith was not only wolf from the outside, but from the inside as well, and he turned away from both her and her child. Keir left the holt with Faellen, who was the only reason he could hold on to life anyway.
Mireth was outgoing and always positive to here fellow pureblooded elves, but looked down on the Wolfriders. She was proud of her pure blood and couldn’t help but think the Wolfriders were dirty in some way. Still, she hesitated when Faellen asked her to remove Taellin’s dirty blood, because somewhere she realized it would be wrong. She left with a couple of others when Wolfheart forced them to choose and her destiny is unknown.
Vortum was the know-it-all of the group firstcomers. He didn’t mean harm and often sounded more harsh than he meant. He always kept his ears and eyes open and was perceptibly well developed, and therefore was the first to become aware of his new surroundings and able to adjust. It only added up to his irritating habit to point out the new facts to his fellow elves. He was the first pureblooded elf to recognize a wolf with a little elf blood, and never spoke about it. Since he thought the ones who left would need his expertise more than the Wolfriders, he left the holt with them.![]() Fifth Generation
Quiver had never learned to be a chieftess because her brother Lightheart was always meant to lead the tribe. Being just a child when her father died, she leaned heavily on the elders of the tribe, especially at first, but she proved to be a worthy chieftess. Though she was never really open to others, Willowmist kept trying and was the first to reach her heart. Eventually, they recognized - twice. Their children were Flare and Halfnote.
Quiver died when the valley flooded and while she tried to rescue a cub from the roaring water, which cost the both of them their lives. She had blond hair with a touch of orange, and large violet eyes.
