I'm very much uncomfy with stating rules, so I just put them in a disguise and call them guidelines, all right? On this page, you will find everything you need to know about what it takes to be a part of this holt, how to submit art and fanfic and what etiquette guidelines you'll have to follow. Please read this carefully!! 1. We don't allow any Pini Characters, and your character also cannot be related. There's no knowledge to any of the original Elfquest characters. 2. This is a forum-based roleplay! We use a forum for the roleplay and therefore, after you send in the joining for and receive a reply from me, you need to register an account at the forum. I prefer you use your character name, because the massive spam-accounts that are being registered. 3.You have to participate ! New members have of course the chance to roll into the story or discover the holt itself, but
try to jump in as soon as possible. When you're going on a holiday for more than just a few days, let me know. When I haven't heard anything from you after a month, I will send you an e-mail. When I don't hear anything from you for another two weeks, either by replying to the message or by jumping in the RP, I will remove
you from our holt, and that's something we both don't want to! 4. You begin with just one character. You can have more elves if you want, but you have to participate twice as much then. Keep them all active! The maximum number of elves you can have is five. 5. You cannot just recognize. You have to ask Linda first. And if we agree, we will roll the dices to see to whom you wil be recognized. So you cannot choose in this case (it doesn't look so rude as we say it is!) 6. Once a character is created for Mist Valley Holt, it stays there. Members leaving a holt have no say what happens with the characters, but the holt leader does. That way, we prevent a killing spree when people leave and want to kill of their character. Mist Valley is a small tribe, no need to make it even smaller. 7. I reserve the right to remove users any time (with a good reason, that is).
Roleplaying Etiquette Thankfully, Mist Valley Holt has a wonderful group of players and I very much enjoy everyone's enthusiasm! Enthusiasm, however, sometimes leads to irritations as people forget the etiquette towards other players. Therefore, I've written down a few rules you should pay attention to in regard to your fellow players. This, to give everyone a chance when his or her character is addressed. 1. I have placed the minimum of participation in the Roleplay section at one or two times a week. This, because 1), a very selfish reason: I have other things to do and can't post on daily basis and 2), same counts for other players. Don't get upset if the character you're addressing is not posting a reply within 24 hours, because they have three to seven days max to reply. After that, you're free to move your character around. 2. Be aware of omniscience. Stay in-character! If Silhouette thinks about how awful she feels, but pulls up a happy face, then there's no way Halfnote will know how she feels, though we, the players, do. Avoid writing for your elf like he knows everything his player does. 3. WAIT for your other players! If you're addressing someone, and s/he doesn't reply fast enough to your liking (with a max of 7 days, you're free to move your character away after that), DON'T move your character away instantly. The player of elf #2 likes having the chance to reply with his or her character in a certain situation. Basically, give the other time to reply. 4. Don't play someone else's character. It's just not done to move someone's character around as if it were your own. Thoughts, movements, reactions -- it's up to the player of elf #2, and not up to you. If you want to, you can use the Personal Message feature to ask if it's okay to, for example, move elf #2 with yours. Additionally, don't play another character's wolf, either, because they belong together. 5. Take turns! If, say, Berrywine, Kearen and Viper are in a conversation together, take your turn on replying in the RP. Nothing's more frustrating than seeing two pages between Berrywine and Kearen because their players had more time on the set day, while Viper's input is been completely left out. Wait for your turn! If Berrywine goes first, and Kearen second, then wait till Viper has had his say, as well, before you continue. 6. We're wolfriders, so your character usually comes with a wolf. There's nothing wrong with playing your wolf but here are a few regulations you should pay attention to.
Art and Fanfic Submissions Art 1. All art must be in *.JPG/*.JPEG or *.GIF extentions only, and no bigger than 350k. You can create a topic for your own art as you see fit, and you are allowed to upload the art onto the forum. Don't make the files too large, though, because my space is not unlimited. 2. If you don't draw your own elf but another character in the holt, make sure the elf's player is okay with you drawing his/her character to avoid nasty situations. Get approval when the picture is done.
1. Send your stories in a *.doc or *.html format. That's easier for me to read and upload your story. 2. You can't kill other people's characters. Would you like it if someone else kills your character? If you use someone elses character, please contact him/her and let them read the story before you send it to me. Use the PM function of the forum to do so. 3. You can't just Recognize someone, or suddenly have your own magic if you didn't have it before. If your character has a lifemate and is not recognized yet, and if you want them to recognize, please let me know , and we will see if it 's the right time to have a new cub in the holt... 4. A few little rules for writing, which also apply to the RPG: We'll send like **this** , we'll talk like "this" and wolfsending, when it's needed, ::this::. All stories must be written in past tense. 5. Send all stories to queststar@home.nl, or place them at the forum in the designated thread. 6. I reserve the right to change these rules without warning if needed. |
