Trolls

There is little knowledge of the troll culture. The trolls live inside the Whitecold Mountains, but no elf has ever been inside. Before chief Flare threatened the trolls and deceived them, there was a period of flourishing trade between the two species. Elves would gather up food, furs and dreamberries and would trade them for metal weapons, especially.

After Flare’s deception, the trade was cut off immediately and though Flare tried to demand the continuation, it worked all wrong. The trolls made clear that they would attack if the elves would show up uninvited and incidents started to happen on both sides. Several trolls and elves have been killed afterwards when they ran into each other.

Chieftess Halfnote and her lifemate Raven tried to reason with them a few seasons ago, but after some words Raven was killed, and no further attempts have been made since.

Trolls are notorious for their dumb behaviour, according to the elves, but they compensate in brutal force. They were well-respected for their abilities to turn rock into shiny, strong metal weapons.

Known Trolls
There are a couple of trolls the elves know by name. These include the troll king (whom they have never seen, but only heard of), the two gatekeepers and the one guard that assisted when Flare threatened.

King Wartlip – Though the elves have never seen him, the gatekeepers told them something about him – not intentionally, but between sentences. He is known for his greed, loves gold and pretty stones they take from the mountain and is notorious for his love of female trolls. He seems to have at least seven women, but that can also be an exaggerated number.

Gatekeeper Windbag – Windbag was the first gatekeeper the elves knew, and is known for his easygoing nature, though he kept a close eye on everything the elves brought. He was well-known with the value of the provisions the elves brought in and made sure they never received too much in return. Windbag loves to gamble and is an expert in cheating, but is also known as someone who trusts to easily. This nearly cost him his life when Flare misused his trust. Windbag has a dark brown small beard and has several warts covering his cheeks, with dark brown eyes.

Gatekeeper Goldfinch – Goldfinch always appears to be cranky and never willing to open up a trade at first. He complains about his duty as a gatekeeper, saying king Wartlip only forced this job onto him to get more provisions to the elves. He quickly loses his temper and it was fun for the elves to pull pranks on him – but nothing too serious. He doesn’t want to have anything to do with the elves if they don’t have anything to trade. Especially luxury goods like cloth makes his eyes shimmer with greed. Goldfinch has dark blue eyes and curly orange-red hair.

Guard Bignose – Not much is known about him, except that he was guarding over gatekeeper Windbag whenever he traded. He is a very tall and broad troll and wields an axe with great precision, but is a silent type.
Bignose has a long black messy bears and messy black hair, with dark brown eyes with one big wart on his already huge nose.

Guard Coldnose - Watcher of the troll tunnel on the other side of the Cold Mountain than where the elves reside. He used to be keeper of the slaves, until it became clear that he fed them extra meat. Both he and his brother were relieved of their duty.

One-Toe - Vicious, opportunistic and has a loathing for elves beyond the regular hate. Sees the death of elves a chance to climb up the hierarchal ladder. He was keeper of the elves until Coldnose's game came out, after which the both of them got transferred, and he blames the elves for missing a couple of toes.
