Personality:
Prior to captivity, Wolfears was an elf who took his responsibilities serious. He was in for a prank once in a while, but nothing serious, and he doted on his daughter. His excellent hearing made him arrogant from time to time, hearing things before others could, and therefore, proud of his slightly misformed ears (though he would not use that term). An excellent hunt leader, but some problems with authority. Had a bad temper, often thought of challenging the chieftess (and has come close a few times)
Captivity has made him turn to his wolfblood almost completely, and apart from the way he moves -- he still walks on both feet) one could easily think that he'd have to deal with a wolf. Wolfears has turned into an agressive wolf-like creature (especially to trolls), is protective of the ones in captivity, and is acting like a dominant wolf who is eager to block as much communication as he can. He barely takes advice from Goldstar, who's taken some sort of lead, and wants to firgure things out himself. Talking in snarls and growls nowadays, he's turned into a loner and it seems that only Vision can get through to him, using his soulname.
History:
Being a slightly withdrawn cub from the start, Pointears grew up in a loving family. He always felt different -- his ears had an odd form because of his complicated birth and had never grown right. But because of it, it seemed, he heard things others couldn't. Training his hearing and scouting skills, soon earned him the name of Wolfears.
The cub had a fondness of the weird Vision from day one, because she always seemed to be around. When he grew older, though, his wolfblood distanced him from her, and like the rest he started to think that there was something wrong with her. Still, she would sometimes seek him out, making him feel very uncomfortable with her staring eyes, as if she knew something that he didn't.
Wolfears turned out to be an excellent hunt leader, and it made him slightly arrogant in the meantime. It made him clash with chieftess Halfnote several times, because he believed that if the tribe was better managed, and especially the hunt, they would get much more out of it. There were times that Wolfears seriously thought of challenging the chieftess, but there were reasons he didn't -- one of them being his recognition with Vision. She didn't seem to be surprised by it at all and that made him wary of her, but the cub Sparrow made it all right. Though he briefly denned with Vision, it wasn't what they both wanted, and when he moved out he took the cub (who thankfully looked more like him than to her mother) with him.
Sparrow got attacked by a bear, and for a while he chased after the bear who nearly killed his daughter. Eventually, he lost the track and grew frustrated, returning in anger. Seeing his beloved daughter like that hurt him more than he could bear, and he sought distraction in the hunt and the guarding of the holt. One day, he and Goldstar were checking on a pair of tuftcats that behaved oddly, when they were trapped by trolls. Wolfears nearly killed one of them, before they were knocked down. When he came to his senses, his feet were chained and he got the surprise of his life, seeing Rivulet and her young boy named River.
Losing what he loved most, his freedom and the hunt, he became bitter, and because of his temper the trolls were hard to endure. To survive the horror of daily life, Wolfears more and more turned to his wolfblood, and at a certain time it might have seemed that he had completely lost it. When first Greenthorn and not long thereafter, Whitedoe and Vision were enprisoned, too, he regained some of his senses. Vision managed to break through his protective shield and found at least bits of the elf inside back.
Now, whenever he is going to lean even more to the wolfside than before, Vision intervenes, and she manages quite well.
