Belladonna: A bushy plant, at a height of about half an elfs length. Woodlike stems with at the end oval leaves. In the summer it has kelklike purple flowers and the fruits are cherrysized. Green when not ripe and shiny black when they are. Grows at the edge of a forest or in a meadow. Dried leaves work as a sedative. It also dilates the eye pupils. But it's addictive and in the end it's lethal. If not dried it works completely the other way. Especially the fruits are poisonous; 10 fruits are lethal. Effects are hyperactivity and hyperventilation, rising body temperature and thirst. Also the pupils dilate. There isn't much help if you eat more than the lethal dose. You have to cough up, but in the poisonous state you forget it and thus need someone who knows what to do.
Bittergrass: Tastes bitter, removes your scent. Breathing Herb: A small green healing herb with little red to purple flowers. The leaves have a hart or egglike form. In high season the herbs can be plucked and dried. The dried herb can be boiled in water and it helps against coughs and a sore throat. Chalice Herb: A low herb with a flower like a funnel or chalice. It catches flies with that, who help with pollination. Plucking causes the touched spots to become irritated and maybe even inflame. When the plant is ripe it loses everything except the berries that grow in the funnel. They are shiny red and if eaten very poisonous, but very sweet. It only takes 5 berries to kill a grown elf. Dreamberry Bush: This healthy bush is about waist-high, and covered in glossy green leaves. Ripe, purple dreamberries peek out from behind the dense foliage. Elfin magic sense tingle a bit; the bush has probably been "shaped" somehow. Funnelfungus:A small poisonous mushroom with white dented hood, often grows in fairycircles and often confused with Meadowplate. Symptoms of the poison are sweating, crying-fits, stomachaches, vomitting and sometimes blurry vision. Most of the time it's not lethal and the body will overcome the poison. Goldenrain: About four elflengths high tree with very little green leaves and a lot of yellow flowers, like rain. Everything is beautiful until you start to eat something from tree. The poison works like a sedative, but soon it knocks you down completely. Especially the seeds are very poisonous. Ivy: A plant that entangles itself around trees and branches. Grows very quickly, and before you know it you'll have it everywhere and can't get rid of it anymore. The leaves can be used as vegetables or simply as a decoration. Many Fingered Leaf: Half an elf sized high plant with big featherlike leaves. The leaves have a lot of 'fingers' or feather hairs. In high season there are bulbs filled with powder on the underside of the leaves. Water boiled with dried leaves help against bellyworms after drinking it. Meadowplate: A small eatable mushroom, creamy white colored with a fat hood. Often grows in fairycircles. Quite a delicacy after a long cooking time. Moss: A soft ground plant that covers the humus. Very soft to touch and if dried, very good to eat as well. Also grows at the North side of most trees, mostly. Redberry Plant: Six elves high bush with very small red berries. They are first green, but then turn red when ripe. The berries are poisonous when you eat them. It causes vomiting and stomach irritation but it's not lethal. Strangleweed: A groundvine that grabs a victim and literally strangles it to death, it can be trained to grow like a climbing vine and used as a trap, often done by plantshapers. Sweetsticks: Tall, hollow reeds which are popular for their sweet juice. Elves harvest the juice by chewing or pounding the stalks which are built of tough fibres. These fibres are used for basket weaving and can be used as snorkles. Wackroot: Takes away pain and imparts a feeling of strength when chewed and swallowed. Whistling Reed: Grows in boggy areas. The slitted, fleshy greens are good for curing fevers. These sour-tasting leaves got their name from the sound that is made when wind blows through the holes in the leaves. |

They look like oversized tuftcats, but have long canines tooth which can easily rip a prey apart. They are not often seen, and they seem to stay away from the holt, only when they are really hungry they come closer and become a threat. Treewalker: The way these animals walk and climb resembles the way monkeys do. The feed on leafs, fruit, flowers and grass. They eat meat (insects) and plants, pretty much everything actually. Snakes: There are also several kinds of snakes in the jungle. They make for good food and their skin makes strong leather, but you should be aware of the larger ones: they might strangle or poison you, turning you their prey. Amphibians: Like with snakes and lizards, there are several kinds of amphibians, like frogs, toads, newts/salamanders, caecilians (worm like salamanders). Fish: The lake and river contain different species of fish. The water is healthy and fish is plenty; if there wouldn't be any game anymore, the tribe would be able to live on fish for years. These creatures eat mostly water plants but the bigger fish might also eat some water insects or even smaller fish. Invertebrates: There's also a variety of these animals, like spiders and insects, slugs and worms in all different sizes. |
